The Fleece is located in the market town of Cirencester, in east Gloucestershire, an hour away from Bath and Oxford and just under two hours away from London.
We’re a traditional coaching inn and a Grade II listed building. Our history stretches as far back as 1651. Following defeat at the Battle of Worcester in the same year, King Charles II is believed to have used the building as a hiding place when he was forced to flee from Oliver Cromwell’s New Model Army.
You’ll be able to sleep much easier than the fugitive king did, though, in any one of our 28 inviting guest rooms. In 2011, the inn underwent a full refurbishment to provide maximum, modern comfort while remaining loyal to the character of our 17th-century building. Book one of our standard rooms with their soothing home comforts. Make the most of the extra space with our character rooms. For a special treat enjoy a stay in a feature double room, simply the best bedrooms in the house.
Not only do we provide quality accommodation, but also a quality culinary experience with dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. Fill a small corner with a starter, share a platter, dine on classic dishes, order a cask ale, wine from around the world or a smooth gin. Sign up for our brunch club for 10% off our brunch menu.
Bring your four-legged friend with you to experience the magic of The Cotswolds. They’ll receive a warm welcome here at the inn. Contact us to book our pet-friendly rooms or find out more about our services.
Our accredited ales, scrumptious dishes and luxury accommodation, combined with a location that invites leisure and exploration, make us the ideal place to stay in The Cotswolds.
